Out and About in El Campello
Evenings are a gentle affair and centre around the beachfront restaurants and café bars that tumble outside onto the promenade. On the main road of the town you can find livelier bars, but with
over two miles of promenade it doesn't get much better than enjoying the cooling sea breeze as you stroll along perusing the dishes on offer in the many restaurants. Or listening to
the waves crashing on the shore as you enjoy an aperitif and watch the world go by.
Places to eat in El Campello are many and varied with prices to suit all pockets. Along with Spanish cuisine you will also find Chinese, French, Italian, English and even Cuban!
But how about trying some home cooking? Traditionally, before tourism, the town's economy was fishing and agriculture and this is reflected in local dishes like Caldero Campello and Arroz a Banda (a rice dish not unlike paella).
If you want a dining experience to remember there are some pleasant restaurants to choose from, selling fresh fish or meat cooked in delightful ways. One place with great views as well as interesting dishes is La Cova down near the Harbour. With candle-lit tables overlooking the sea you can experience more modern dishes like warm goat's cheese salad with mustard dressing or salmon in shrimp sauce.
Or pick from a selection of family friendly eateries dotted throughout the town. You won't be short of places to choose from and afterwards you can follow the tangy smell of the sea down to the promenade where you can walk off the calories!
