Hogueras Time

going up in smoke
It's Hogueras time in Alicante. Things are a little different this year as the council have gone all green by bringing thousands of energy efficient light bulbs for the illuminations at a cost of €40,000.
Last night Inés Quesada, who is this year's 'La Bellea del Foc' (Beauty of the fire) switched on the lights in a ceremony at the town hall. Using these bulbs the council reckon that they'll reduce
costs and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by some 80%.
Which is pretty good when you consider that tens of thousands of Euros worth of fireworks will be going up in smoke on the night!
Remember that the big day itself is 24th June when the papier mache images are burned but there is also a full programme of fiestas from
today and daily until 29th June with parades, fireworks and much merrymaking.

Where am I?
