One of Spain's best sporting events, cycling's Tour of Spain comes to Alicante in September when no less than 3 of the tour's 21 stages will start or finish in the province.
The 64th Tour will be in El Alto de Aitana, Alcoy on 6th Sept for stage 8, in Xorret de Catí for stage 9 on 7th and in Alicante itself for the start of stage 10 on 8th September.
Government officials are cock-a-hoop with the decision to route the tour through the province as the riders, teams, and press alone are likely to occupy around 3500 hotel and restaurant places for the visit with more expected from cycling aficionados following the race.
