Recommended Buys when Shopping in Alicante

Apart from the delights already mentioned, Alicante City does have more than its share of:

Jewellers - did you know that most Spanish jewellery is 14ct gold? So check those prices again and you will realise that they really are too good to miss. Designs are, in the main, modern and stylish and certainly something you won't see back home…so go on, treat yourself!

Leather Goods - well you are in Spain, so leather goods are an essential buy! From coats to the girly favourites of bags and shoes the quality is second to none. You can browse amongst the designer labels or rummage around the handicraft markets for a real one off. Whatever your budget there really is something for everyone.

Markets - There truly are too many to mention but the easiest to find is the market held every day on the Explanada. You can buy anything from clothes to pottery, jewellery and decorative items here, but do search out the others being held like the art market on the Paseo Gadeo and the street markets on Campoamar, Carolinas and Benalua y Babel. Also if you love a good rummage, then visit the stamp and antique collectors market held every Sunday morning in the Town Hall Square.

Local crafts - Alicante is famous for its rugs from Crevillente, its handcrafted pottery from Agost, basketware from Gata de Gorgos as well as toys and dolls.

To be sure you are buying the genuine article though always check the origin of the product.
