Alicante's climate is hard to beat. With a wonderful average temperature of 16 degrees in winter and 32 degrees in summer, it truly is a year round destination. With its back to a mountain range and sandwiched between two capes it is in a sheltered position.

The sunshine quota in the winter is around 6 hours, whilst in summer you can expect a long twelve hours to laze away the day. Expect a little humidity in high summer. There are further details below to help you make up your mind when you would prefer to visit.

  • Warm enough for sunbathing from May to October
  • Sunny, mainly dry days in winter, perfect for a more active holiday, or exploring the city on foot.
  • At its busiest and hottest in July and August, although there is a constant sea breeze.
  • Sea temperature is at its warmest in July to September, so ideal for water sports enthusiasts, though the big toe test will tell you that swimming is fine from June to October.

The temperatures shown are averages, so please remember that in at mid day, in high summer it really is HOT!
